Firefighters limit damage in blaze

The Eagle-Tribune

---- — LAWRENCE — It took just 11 minutes for firefighters to knock down a one-alarm blaze at a home at 55 Cambridge St yesterday.

Fire Deputy Chief John McInnis said an estimated $25,000 in damage was confined to the outside of the house in the basement area, where firefighters had to open up walls and remove some vinyl siding that burned.

Investigators were trying to determine the cause of the fire last night, which was reported shortly before 12:30 p.m.

Because the quick response of firefighters limited the damage, residents were allowed to return to the house last night, McInnis said.
