Youth Center, site work go before public

ANDOVER — Two projects expected to impact parking at the town’s senior center will be the focus of a community forum at the Public Safety Center on Thursday.

The meeting will speak to two projects: the expected construction of the Cormier Youth Center behind Doherty Middle School, and a $3.2 million proposal to replace all paved surfaces around the middle school.

The $3.2 million project is coming to annual Town Meeting, while construction on the youth center will likely start later this year, pending two articles changing the project at annual Town Meeting.

Officials on the Andover Youth Center Building Committee will update the community on the project, including how residents will be asked to break the project into two phases and move the footprint of the building at town meeting.

Both projects are expected to affect parking at the Center at Punchard, previously the Senior Center, on Whittier Court. The forum will be held at the Public Safety Center, 32 North Main St., on Thursday at 7 p.m.
