PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A Rhode Island grand jury has indicted a Massachusetts man on a murder charge stemming from a fatal shooting in the parking lot of a Providence nightclub.
The Rhode Island Attorney General announced the indictment Friday.
Twenty-four-year-old Terrel Barros of New Bedford is charged with murder, assault with a dangerous weapon and firearm violations.
Officers responding to gunshots found 38-year-old Jamal Cruz in the parking lot of the Monet Lounge last August. Cruz, of Wareham, Mass., died at Rhode Island Hospital. A second man was injured by gunfire.
Barros is being held without bail. It was unclear Friday if he has an attorney.
Another New Bedford man, Stephen Bodden was also indicted on charges alleging that he attempted to hide the gun used in the shooting.
