---- — WILMINGTON — State Police have identified the victim of Sunday night’s fatal car accident on Route 125 as an Andover resident.
Police say 47-year-old Roberto Leon, of Longwood Drive in Andover, was declared dead at the scene after his 2013 Toyota Corolla crossed the road’s double-yellow line and hit a 2004 Chevrolet K1500 sport utility vehicle head-on.
The crash was first reported at 8:35 p.m. on Sunday, March 3.
Why the vehicle crossed into the other lane is “yet to be determined,” a State Police statement said. The crash remains under investigation.
A 43-year-old man and his 12-year-old son, both of Wilmington, were taken by ambulance to Lawrence General Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries from the crash. Their identities aren’t being released at this time.
Route 125, which crosses through Andover, North Reading and Wilmington in the area of the crash, was closed for around 2 1/2 hours Sunday night to allow for rescue operations, collision reconstruction and removal of debris and vehicles.
