Firefighters reported having "water flowing all over the place" on the floor below the leak shortly after the burst pipe was reported around 9:30 p.m.
However, the sprinkler was quickly shut off, and damage was minimal, according to fire Capt. Robert Higgins. The building is under renovation, so there was little there to damage, Higgins said.
The building, formerly known as Wood Mill, is undergoing a $200 million conversion into 600 condominiums and a retail complex of shops, restaurants and movie theaters.
Despite temperatures that dipped into the single digits, Higgins reported having few problems related to the weather last night, except for some fire alarms that were set off accidentally by the cold.
