NORTH ANDOVER — While the election focus Tuesday was on the presidential primary, it was also the last day for local hopefuls for town office to turn in their papers.
With two seats open on both the Board of Selectman and the School Committee and no incumbents running, the election will bring new people to both of those boards.
The four candidates running for two open three-year terms for the Board of Selectmen are:
r Joe Edward Smith, 63, a state engineer and commander of American Legion Post 219.
r Donald Stewart, 67, a retired house painter who served as selectmen for 15 years until he lost the re-election bid in 2006.
r Tracy Watson, 40, an executive for Barkan Management Co. Inc. working as property manager for Wood Ridge Homes in North Andover.
r Richard Nardella, Planning Board Chairman and longtime Planning Board member. He could not be reached last night for further information.
Daniel Fallon who pulled papers for selectman decided not to run.
The three candidates running for two open three-year terms for the School Committee are:
r Chris Nobile, 49, does corporate lending for GMAC Bank.
r Michael Quinlan, 47, a software engineer for Nuance Communications in Burlington.
r Stanley Limpert, 60, an independent consultant who helps people do software evaluation and purchasing.
Sean McAdam pulled papers but has decided not to run.
Two other races will be on the March ballot:
r Incumbent Helen Soucy is the one candidate for one five-year term on the Housing Authority.
r Incumbent John Driscoll is the only candidate for one three-year term on the School Committee of the Greater Lawrence Technical High School.
