LAWRENCE — St. Patrick School students were the overall winners in Sunday's annual St. Patrick's Day parade with their decorated float and team of marchers.
Organizers estimate more than 5,000 people lined downtown streets to cheer the participants in the Shades of Green-themed parade, despite the wind and cold temperature.
Other trophy winners were:
r New England Civic Ballet, first-place float
r Acting Out, second-place float
r Mill City Maulers, third-place float
r Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence, first-place marchers
r Men of St. Patrick, second-place marchers
r Rita O'Shea Irish Step Dancers, third-place marchers
One of the more intriguing entries was a glass horse-drawn hearse, sponsored by Diaz-Healey Funeral Home.
