Essex Aggie to receive Salmon

video: by Mark Lorenz

Students at Essex Aggie in Danvers who are studying in the environmental technology program received 203 Atlantic salmon from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's hatchery in Nashua, N.H. The students normally raise the fish from eggs, but this year, due to a $12,000 upgrade to the fish barn, they plan to raise the fish when they are the the "parr" stage of development for one year until they reach the "smoltz" stage when they are ready to head out to sea. The plan is to release the fish in the Merrimack River in Lawrence.
