In addition seven CCHS seniors have been named Commended Students in the 2014 National Merit Program. Commended Students attained scores on the National Merit Exam which placed them in the top 3 percent.

Last day to register to vote is Oct. 16
HAVERHILL — Oct. 16 is the last day to register to vote in the Nov. 5 Haverhill city election for Mayor, City Council and School Committee. The city clerk’s office in City Hall, 4 Summer St., Room 118, will have extended hours that day, opening at 8 a.m. and closing at 8 p.m. United States citizens and Massachusetts residents who will be 18 on or before election day are eligible to vote. Anyone interested in changing their address within the city from one address to another also must do so by Wednesday. Those registering by mail registration must have those forms postmarked no later than Oct. 18. Bike forum gets rolling in Andover
ANDOVER — Bicycling enthusiasts take note: The town is hosting a public forum on bicycling on Tuesday, Oct. 22, at 7 p.m. in the police/fire station at 32 North Main St.
The forum is for anyone who is “a concerned, engaged citizen who wants to create changes to better bicycling infrastructure and safety,” according to a flier on the event.
Paul Materazzo, the town’s director of planning, is hosting the event. It is being put on by the town in conjunction with MassBike, also known as the Massachusetts Bicycling Coalition.
