Zanni and Kannan on the record

What is the last book you read?

“Lincoln,” by Benjamin Thomas. It is a fascinating look at one of our nation’s most important historical figures. I highly recommend it.

Jennifer Kannan

Age: 48

Address: 10B Grandview Road

Occupation: Realtor

Education: Attended Methuen public schools, AREA Real Estate Academy, working toward a bachelor’s degree in political science with a concentration in legal studies at UMass Lowell

Personal: Married to Bill Kannan (29 years); son Billy Kannan Jr. and daughter-in-law Meghan; daughters Brittney and Farrah; granddaughter Tessa Rose Therrien

What’s the biggest difference between you and your opponent?

Communication and the ability to build consensus. I always face issues head on and do not skirt from any issues. I am a problem solver who will work together to insure fairness to all.

What will be your top priority as mayor?

I intend to analyze department by department to see how we can improve the overall function of our government, make it more accessible to the public by updating our website, all while cleaning up our city landscape.

What is your greatest strength?

My negotiating skills. I have been a councilor for the last six years and a Realtor for the last 12. I always negotiated contracts for my clients by following the ethics laws to the fullest extent. I have the ability to work well with many facets of a bargaining team.

What is your opponent’s greatest flaw or weakness?

My opponent tends to take people’s comments and votes personally. Once he makes it personal, it then stunts the progress and positive results do not occur.

How will you improve relations between the City Council and mayor’s office?

I will improve the relations between the council and the mayor’s office by providing open lines of communication regarding all events and issues pertaining to the city. I will have an open door policy for all.
