Why should people vote for you?
I have served as a Everett City Councillor for over four terms, eight and a half years. I was also an Everett Code Enforcement Health Inspector. I cleaned hundreds of properties in Everett. My knowledge of how things get done at City Hall benefits my constituents.
What's the biggest issue facing your district? Why?
My biggest issue I feel facing my district is to attract quality business and grow our residential tax base without comprising the quality of life for our residents. Also to clean up blighted commercial and residential properties.
What specific aspect of city government will you work to improve?
I will work to improve the Health Department and bring new code enforcement technology to have them effectively fine owners who do not maintain their properties. I have meet with the mayor multiple times to make this happen. I am still waiting for his response.
Which, if any, city services should be privatized? Why or why not?
I voted to privatize the IT Department and would vote the same way again. We need study to see not only if it's cost effective to privatize, but if service and quality of life issues suffer, then we should not move forward.
How would you rate the current council's performance? How would you improve it?
The Methuen City Council did some great things this year, passing a meals tax and increasing our ambulance fees, which ultimately offsets the tax rate. We also made the necessary cuts to our budget to streamline our government, including cutting the Health Director. Don't be fooled; that's why we lost our grant.
