SALEM — Police said a Boston man had nearly 200 bags of crack cocaine, heroin and cocaine when he was arrested Saturday evening.
An officer on routine patrol noticed two men acting suspiciously in a car in the lot at BJ’s Wholesale Club at 70 Cluff Road. When the passenger spotted Officer Joshua Dempsey’s cruiser just past 6 p.m., he quickly got out of the car and into another vehicle nearby, police said.
Upon questioning, that man told police he had driven over from Seabrook just to say hello to a friend.
Dempsey then spoke to the driver of the car he first spotted, Roberto Agosto-Vazquez, 27, of Boston. The officer found several small bags of narcotics in Agosto-Vasquez’s pocket.
After obtaining a search warrant for the vehicle, Dempsey found an additional 189 plastic bags of drugs — heroin, crack cocaine and cocaine.
Agosoto-Vazquez is charged with two felonies counts of possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute and a misdemeanor charge of drug possession.
He was arraigned yesterday in 10th Circuit Court in Salem.
He’s being held in the county jail on $50,000 cash bail.
