FBI, police searching for 'Merrimack Valley Bandit'

$10,000 reward offered for information leading to capture

The teller gave him an undetermined amount of cash and the man fled on foot, Kirmelewicz said. The suspect had his own bag.

“The suspect in the pictures seems to fit the same description of a suspect in other local bank robberies, so there’s a possibility that it may be the same person,” Kirmelewicz said.

Responding to a question about a rumor that students at Pentucket Regional High School might have identified the suspect, Kirmelewicz said there was nothing of substance to it.

“We were given some information about a possible connection, but we’re not feeling very strong about that,” he said. “At this time, we do not plan on questioning anyone at the school.”

A white logo on a jacket worn in one of the robberies may be recognizable by someone familiar with the suspect, according to the FBI. Although the specific design is not distinguishable in the surveillance photos, it may provide useful information about the identity of the suspect.

Additionally, through a partnership with Clear Channel, digital billboards in the Merrimack Valley will be used to seek tips from the public, according to the FBI.

Anyone with information regarding the robberies should call the FBI at 617-742-5533, Lawrence Police at 978-794-5900, Methuen Police at 978-983-8698, Dracut Police at 978-957-2123 or Groveland Police at 978-521-1212.
