Boys & Girls Club of receives donation from Santander Bank

LAWRENCE — The Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence (BGCL) recently received a $1,000 donation from the branch of Santander Bank located at 296 Essex St. in Lawrence.

The money will benefit the club’s general operating fund, which provides critical programs focusing on academic success, healthy lifestyles, and community involvement to 3,400 youths at two locations.

Groundbreaking ceremony set for rotary project

METHUEN — Gov. Deval Patrick and Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) Secretary and Chief Executive Officer Richard A. Davey will join federal, state and local officials to celebrate the official groundbreaking for the Methuen Rotary Reconstruction Project on Tuesday at 10:45 a.m.

MassDOT’s $66.4 million Methuen Rotary Reconstruction Project will make dramatic improvements to mobility, accessibility, and safety at the rotary and on adjacent local and state roadways, including Interstate 93 (I-93) and Route 110 and Route 113 in Methuen.

Free rides today on Lawrence downtown bus shuttle

LAWRENCE — The Merrimack Valley Regional Transit Authority and Mayor Daniel Rivera will host a promotional free-tour along a new downtown bus shuttle route today from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The tours will begin at the Lawrence Senior Center, 155 Haverhill St. and will continue as follows: Lawrence Street and Park Street, Broadway and Manchester Street, Broadway and Essex Street, Essex Street and Union Street and back to Lawrence Senior Center.

The service starts Tuesday, July 1.
