'Operation Wedding Gown' happens today in Georgetown

---- — GEORGETOWN — “Operation Wedding Gown” is Brides Across America’s mission to give away free wedding gowns to military brides. On Wednesday and Thursday, July 9 and July 10, Tulle Bridal will host the gown giveaway.

“A wedding is something everyone loves and to give a wedding gown to support our troops makes perfect sense,” said founder Heidi Janson. “This is our gift to them, to say thank you for their service and sacrifice.”

Tulle Bridal will host event at 28 West Main St. Brides Across America and Tulle Bridal will roll out the red carpet for deserving military brides and give them the opportunity to shop for a free wedding gown.

In order to qualify, brides or their fiancé must be serving in the military; either currently deployed, have a future deployment, or have been deployed within the last five years to Iraq, Afghanistan, Middle East, Korea or Japan. Brides must pre-register for the event and bring proper identification along with deployment papers to be presented the day of the event.

Organ Recital Series performance tonight

METHUEN — Organist Damin Spritzer will perform on Wednesday at the Methuen Memorial Music Hall as part of the 2014 Organ Recital Series.

Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the concert begins at 8 p.m. Spritzer will perform works by Böhm, Tournemire, Larry King, and René-Louis Becker, whose organ compositions were the topic for Spritzer’s doctoral dissertation. This concert is sponsored by Christopher Morss.

Spritzer has performed coast to coast and records internationally. She has been featured as a “young talent” on Michael Barone’s “Pipedreams” radio program. She has held church music positions in Dallas and Atlanta and of recent is a company representative for Bedient Pipe Organ Co. in Nebraska.

Her first compact disc, a world-premiere recording of organ music of Becker, was released on the Raven label in 2011, to be followed by a second on the same label later this year.

Motorcycle run Saturday honors Brian White

HAVERHILL — The family and friends of the late Brian White will honor his memory on Saturday with the Brian “Mighty Whitey’’ White motorcycle memorial run and benefit.

The event will be at noon at American Legion Post 4, 1314 Main St. Motorcyclists will meet at RG’s Tavern on White Street for a 9 a.m. breakfast. Bikes will leave at 10 a.m.

The event will feature food, door prizes, raffles of items such as gift baskets, salon services, pet services and jewelry. There will also be live music.

Tickets are $10. Proceeds will be used to buy a headstone for White’s grave at Hilldale Cemetery.

So far, donors include Precision Hair of Hampstead, Colby Tanning of Hampstead, Windham Jewelers, Northstar Music Center, Zen Chi Massage , JP Butchers, Bean Towne, Lindt Chocolate, Billy’s Nails of Plaistow, Master Billiards, Flags on the Go, Simply Stunning, Leavitt’s Auto, Stillwell’s Ice Cream, King Graphics, Pet Supply at West Gate Plaza and Mill Pond Tavern in Salem. Personal donations include Red Sox tickets, craft baskets, stained glass and wine baskets.
