LAWRENCE — Thieves broke into a Lowell Street auto repair shop Sunday night and stole a car from the garage, police said.
Fred Castillo, owner of Fred's Auto Repair, at 265 Lowell St., told police he locked the garage about 7 p.m. Sunday and discovered the break when he reported for work about 8 a.m. Monday.
He told police he found the manual bay door half-way open and a black 1996 Nissan Maxima that had been parked inside the garage with the keys in the ignition missing. He said he informed the owner of the vehicle of the theft and she would be reporting the theft to police.
The break and theft were reported at 10:12 a.m. Monday.
