BOSTON — State Rep. Diana DiZoglio, D-Methuen, recently hosted a tour of the Massachusetts State House for the Methuen and North Andover Senior Centers.
More than 40 residents of the senior centers participated in the visit, as they toured both the State House and State Library, gathered for a photo atop the building’s Grand Staircase and spoke with area lawmakers over coffee and pastries.
Joining DiZoglio with the seniors were State Sens. Bruce E. Tarr, R-Gloucester, and Kathleen O’Connor-Ives, D-Newburyport, and State Reps. Linda Dean Campbell, D-Methuen, and Frank A. Moran, D-Lawrence.
“I spent all of last year door-knocking and visiting with residents in the district, so I thought it’d be fun to host them here at the State House,” said DiZoglio. “While we were able to discuss issues of serious concern, we were also able to have good times, given all of the extra joy the seniors brought in their visit. They brightened up my day.”
“I’ve never been to the State House before, so this is quite an experience,” said visitor June McDonald. “This place is so big, I imagine I’d get lost in it on my own.”
“Over the years, I’ve visited Boston all the time, but I never got around to coming to the State House,” said visitor Frank Stallone. “This was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up.”
