---- — State and local police in Salem, N.H., screened 150 drivers and arrested eight at a sobriety checkpoint, including one woman who police say drove through the checkpoint and almost struck a trooper.
New Hampshire State Police from Troop B and Salem officers conducted the checkpoint from 9 p.m. Friday to 3 a.m. yesterday on Route 28. Police also conducted a similar checkpoint on Route 1A in Seabrook at the same time.
State police say Evelyn Santiago, 37, of Hyde Park, Mass., drove through the Salem checkpoint and nearly hit a state trooper. Salem police stopped Santiago a short distance away and took her into custody. She is charged with aggravated DWI and disobeying a police officer.
Also arrested at the checkpoint were: Thomas Brisendine, 26, Salem, transportation of a controlled drug; Matthew Debreceni, 20, Londonderry, transportation of a controlled drug; Kyle Dowd, 32, Lawrence, possession of a controlled drug; Ashley Church, 22, Derry, possession of a controlled drug; Linda Fagerstrom, 64, Salem, DWI; Sean Oakes, 48, Seabrook, DWI subsequent offense and transportation of a controlled drug; John Silva, 51, Salem, DWI subsequent offense.
State, Hampton and Seabrook police joined the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Department and N.H. Liquor Enforcement for a sobriety checkpoint on Route 1A in Seabrook overnight Friday.
They stopped and screened 688 vehicles and arrested 18.
Those arrested in Seabrook include: Marianela Perez, 36, Lawrence, aggravated DWI; Susan Warcewicz, 49, Haverhill, DWI and possession of a controlled drug; Patrick Natale, 44, Woburn, DWI; Charles Poulos, 55, Merrimack, N.H., DWI; Christopher Reilly, 51, Norwood, DWI subsequent offense.
Two people were charged with having an open container: Karen Batten, 21, Dracut and Frank Cirone, 36, Woburn.
Three teens were charged for being minors transporting alcohol. They are: Rachel Preston, 19, Dracut; Devin Murray, 19, Groveland; Jordan Guditas, 19, Newburyport.
Two minors were charged with unlawful possession of alcohol: Darren Englelke, 17, Groveland and Marrissa Dellacroce, 18, Newburyport.
Robert Silva, 18, Reading was charged with internal possession of alcohol/prohibitions.
Four people were charged with possession of controlled drugs. They are: Mark Iannello, 59, New York City; Christopher Lippe, 34, Worcester; Nicholas Lafayette, 21, East Longmeadow; Krystalis Fianco, 21, Lawrence.
Cayce McCall, 30, Tyngsborough, was charged with possession of prescription drugs.
Six 17-year-olds from Andover and North Andover were taken into protective custody. They were not charged.
Those charged were given a court date of Aug. 14 or 15 in 10th Circuit Court in Seabrook.
