---- — Lilly the pit bull became famous in May when she pulled her owner’s mother from the railroad tracks in Shirley, Mass., and out of the line of an oncoming train.

The woman was unharmed, but Lilly suffered multiple injuries including a lacerated front paw and broken pelvis.

Well on the road to recovery, the three-legged hero is now an ambassador for pit bulls worldwide. Often stereotyped as violent and unfriendly, Lilly’s bravery and sweet disposition, affection and loyalty were on display as she mingled with kids at Summer Camp at the MSPCA at Nevins Farm in Methuen yesterday.

Lilly has her own Facebook page (facebook.com/LillyTheHeroPitBull), a calendar full of appearances, and a grateful family working together through presentations and advocacy work to help dispel some of the myths about pit bulls.
