NORTH ANDOVER — Once again, a large amount of cash was stolen from an unlocked vehicle.
A 65 Stonington St. resident called police at 9:35 a.m. Friday to report $3,000 in cash was removed a car that was not locked. Police said the theft occurred Wednesday or Thursday night.
A little more than a week ago, $1,100 in cash, an overhead projector and two cameras were stolen from a car parked at 129 Massachusetts Ave.
A thief or thieves were apparently very busy Thursday night or early Friday morning opening the unlocked doors of cars on Stonington Street and stealing things, according to the police log. A 46 Stonington St. resident reported the theft of an Alpine stereo.
Compared to the neighbors, a 19 Stonington St. resident got off fairly easy. That person reported a pair of sunglasses was stolen.
GPS devices were stolen from unlocked vehicles at 29 Second St. and 25 Stonington St. Loose change was taken from a car at 84 Main St.
Police Chief Paul Gallagher and Lt. Charles Gray have repeatedly and emphatically warned residents to lock their cars at night and never leave valuable items in the vehicle.
