---- — NORTH ANDOVER — After changing the oil, don’t leave any rags or other combustible materials on the engine because a fire could result.

This is what happened Monday morning, according to the Police and Fire departments. Engine 1 was sent to a location near 594 Chickering Road at 8:15 a.m. to extinguish a fire in a 2012 Nissan Altima.

The damage, confined to the motor compartment, was minimal, according to fire Lt. William McCarthy.

The owner of the car said the oil had recently been changed. Firefighters found pieces of burnt rag on the motor, McCarthy said.

The vehicle was towed by Coady’s.
