NORTH ANDOVER — A North Andover man was arrested and charged early Monday morning with assault and battery on a woman who is 36 weeks pregnant.
Kyle Putnam, 31, of 111 Rea St., was arrested at 3:25 a.m. after investigation by Patrolman William Brush. Police received a call about a pregnant woman falling on her stomach at 31 Baldwin St. at 2:46 a.m.
After interviewing the woman, however, Brush arrested Putnam, who was initially held on $5,000 bail, according to the police log.
Alleged drug dealer arrested near Lawrence High
LAWRENCE - Detectives seized 470 grams of cocaine from an alleged drug dealer who stashed some of the drugs in a Nestle Quik container stowed in a hidden compartment in his Jeep Cherokee, police said.
David Soto, 21, of 105 Jackson St., Lawrence was arrested and charged with illegal possession of cocaine and illegal possession of cocaine near Lawrence High School at noon time on Monday.
Local and federal drug detectives investigated Soto after receiving a tip he was selling large amounts of cocaine and heroin in the Merrimack Valley.
Soto was arrested and charged in a parking lot at 160 Winthrop Ave. after police received a tip he was delivering 500 grams of cocaine there.
In a hidden compartment in his Jeep, detectives found a blue bank deposit bag and inside a Nestle Quik container.
Inside the container was six individually wrapped baggies containing 70 grams of cocaine. Additionally, a clear plastic Ziploc bag was found in the compartment, containing 400 grams of cocaine.
The cocaine confiscated is worth $25,000 in illegal drug sales, police said.
Two cell phones Soto was carrying were also taken by police as evidence.
Lawrence Police Detective Robert Lefebre, working other area detectives and a Drug Enforcement Agency task force, made the arrest, according to a report.
