“A Matter of Balance” is an award winning program designed to manage falls and increase activity levels. Participants will learn to set goals for increasing activity, make changes to reduce fall risks at home, exercise to increase strength and balance.

Summer paddle on Saturday in Andover

The Shawsheen River Watershed Association hosts a July Public Paddle Saturday July 13 starting at 8:30 a.m. from the Knights of Columbus, Main Street (Route 38), Tewksbury, to Andover finishing around 11:30 a.m. Participants must bring their own canoe or kayak. Tryouts for ‘Les Miserables’ slated

ANDOVER - The Andover Community Theater will hold tryouts for “Les Miserables” Tuesday July 23 from 7-10 p.m. and also Thursday, July 25 at the ACT rehearsal space, 250 Canal St., Lawrence. Tryouts are by appointment and all roles open. Contact Charles Gracy, ACT artistic director at www.act.com.

Woman tells about leaving the Amish

NORTH ANDOVER - A woman who left the Amish will talk about her experiences at the Stevens Memorial Library on Thursday at 7 p.m. Saloma Miller Furlong is the author of “Why I Left the Amish.” She is the first speaker in the Stevens Memorial Library’s Summer at the Stevens Thursday Nights series. The library is at 345 Main St.
