North Andover man to play with Tom Brady

NORTH ANDOVER — Louis Sciuto is getting ready to play in a big game game tonight, maybe the biggest in his life.

Sciuto, 22, will be competing on the gridiron at Harvard Stadium with none other than Patriots quarterback Tom Brady in the Best Buddies football game.

Brady will quarterback Team Zenith and Team Country Kitchen. Sciuto, who grooms dogs at Bark of the Town, said he's not sure what position he'll be playing or which team he'll play for.

"Yes I am," he said when asked if he's excited about tonight's game, which will raise money for Best Buddies.

He had to keep the interview short because right after work, his sister, Liza Brecher, drove him to a football practice at the stadium.

Best Buddies is a charity dedicated to creating opportunities for one-to-one friendships, employment and leadership development for people with developmental disabilities. It was started by Tim Shriver.

Sciuto, son of Dr. Anthony Sciuto and Louise Borke, has not allowed his challenges to stymie him. He graduated from North Andover High School in 2009. For the past four months, he's been working at Bark of the Town on Route 114. Owner Patti McCrudden describes him as "very conscientious."

"He loves the dogs," she said.

The social network provided by Best Buddies is "very important to Louis," his stepfather, Gerald Brecher, said. Sciuto's "best buddy" is Brian Valdez.

They do a lot of fun things together, Sciuto said. Lately, however, Valdez has been away at school, so he hasn't had as much opportunity to hang out with Sciuto, according to Liza Brecher, his sister.

Sciuto expects to have many family members and friends at Harvard Stadium tonight. Regardless of the score, they'll be rooting for a guy who doesn't quit.
