Teens arrested on bomb charges
ANDOVER — Three teens were arrested Saturday afternoon and charged with throwing, placing or exploding explosive devices, according to police reports.
Arrested were: Charlie Watson, 17, of 66 Chandler Road in Andover; Michael Frio, 18, of 7 Ivanhoe Lane in Andover; and Josef Mazzuchi, 17, of 4 Penni Lane in Andover.
During the day, police received two calls from Cross Street, the home of Wood Hill Middle School, reporting plastic soda bottles placed in a way to suggest they “might be explosive,” as reported in one of the two incidents.
The first call, at 8:28 a.m., reported “a 2 liter Coke bottle duct taped.” The call triggered a response from the State Police bomb squad and the Andover Fire Department, according to police reports.
A second call came in at 2:54 p.m. after “another bottle bomb” was found near a soccer field at the middle school, reports said.
After the second call, police checked out video surveillance at the school, leading them to a car on High Plain Road and, eventually, the arrests of the three teenagers, according to reports.
