LAWRENCE — Thieves pushed in a window air conditioner to enter a Walnut Street apartment, then left with home electronics and assorted jewelry, police said.
Isaura Ortiz, of 179 Walnut St., told Officer Gary Yancey she left her first-floor apartment about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday and returned at 11:45 a.m. to find the air conditioner in her bedroom had been pushed in and her room ransacked.
Ortiz reported her 42-inch television, a 32-inch television, a Sony receiver/CD player, and children's gold jewelry were stolen.
Police said Yancey went to a pawnshop on Broadway to see if any of the items had been brought in and a worker at the business told him no items had been received that matched the description of the stolen items.
The break and theft was reported at noon Wednesday.
