Dennis Bishop highlighted a rushing attack that piled up 531 yards and seven touchdowns as Londonderry ran over visiting Manchester West. Bishop rushed 10 times for 182 yards and two scores.

Bedford 14, Pinkerton 12

Bedford, bumping up from Division 2, delivered the first shocker of the early season, knocking off the Division 1 preseason favorite Astros.

Central 39, Lawrence 27

The Raiders rolled off 26 straight points in the second and third quarters — with a pair of TDs from Markus Edmunds and D’Andre Drummond-Mayrie — to put Lawrence High away.

Andover 33, North Andover 32 (OT)

Andover’s Oliver Eberth connected with Christopher Nicholas on a 7-yard touchdown in overtime, and Ryan Payne booted through the extra point to prove the difference.

Memorial 20, Salem 7

Despite outgaining Memorial for the game, an opening kickoff return and an 88-yard punt return doomed the coaching debut of Salem coach Rob Pike.

Windham 28, Hanover 7

The two-hour trek to Hanover proved no problem for the Jags in their Division 2 opener. Junior Brendan McInnis was brilliant in his debut, hitting 12 of 15 passes for 150 yards in the win.

Cambridge 45, Gr. Lawrence 20

Out to prove last year’s 7-4 mark was no fluke, the Cantabs took care of the rebuilding Reggies, scoring 30 points in the first half and cruising.

Timberlane 20, Alvirne 14

Down 14-12 in the fourth, Timberlane put together a drive that could carry the Owls all season, marching behind Tyler Furey 98 yards on 17 plays to score the game-winner.
