LAWRENCE — A 20-month-old Haverhill boy did not suffer serious injuries when he fell from a second-floor window yesterday morning.
Nehemiah Alvarez was treated and released at Lawrence General Hospital after the 9:50 a.m. accident at 628 Lowell St., Police Chief John Romero said.
The toddler was standing on a bench seat near a set of open windows on the second floor. It appears he pulled himself up on the bench.
“The weight of the baby pushing tore the exterior screen, which allowed him to fall through the second floor window to the pavement below,” police officer Kevin Schiavone wrote in a report.
The boy had visible scrapes on his left elbow and his back, he wrote.
The boy and his mother, Samantha Scharn, 20, are frequent guests at 628 Lowell St., the home of Melissa Morkeski. They stayed over on Saturday night, Schiavone wrote.
Romero said the incident appears to be accident. Police will notify the state’s Department of Children and Families, as required when such an incident occurs, he said.
