ANDOVER — Call it ‘Cannolis for a Cause.’
This coming Saturday, Nina (Fisichelli) Gaffny, owner of Fisichelli’s Bakery in Lawrence and Andover, is devoting 100 percent of the proceeds from her sales to The One Fund, set up to help those most grievously injured during the Marathon bombings.
“It was horrific, and any of us could have been there,” Gaffny said. “Our kids or friends could have been there.”
She hopes that people will visit either the Lawrence bakery, at 55 Union St., or the new Andover store, at 46 Main St., where they can make a donation and get something in return.
“Instead of sending donations or money, customers can buy a cannoli, and they are giving to an important cause,” she said.
The One Fund has raised over $28 million, including almost $17 million in corporate donations and $11 million in public donations.
Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick and Boston Mayor Menino announced the formation of The One Fund Boston to raise money “to help those families most affected by the tragic events that unfolded during the Boston Marathon,” according to the One Fund website.
Fisichelli said the stores will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. The bakery sells a wide variety of baked goods. For more information, see fisichellis.com.
