NORTH ANDOVER — Three women were arrested and charged with stealing assorted merchandise from Kohl’s Department Store and conspiracy to commit larceny Friday night.
North Andover police are investigating whether the three defendants, who are expected to be arraigned in Lawrence District Court today, may be involved with an organized shoplifting ring, according to Lt. Charles Gray.
A loss prevention specialist at the 360 Winthrop Ave. business told police at 8:13 p.m. that two shoplifters were about to run out of the store. Officer Jay Corr, who was on patrol in the area, went to the North Andover Mall parking lot and ended up arresting three suspects, Gray said.
Charged with larceny over $250 and conpiracy to commit larceny are:
Yris Lantigua Garcia, 52, of 53 Lexington St., Lawrence;
Beatriz Caceres, 30, of 17 Washington St., Lawrence;
Katerine Duran, 24, of 11 Lawrence St., Lawrence.
Regarding the possibility that the three women are involved in a shoplifting ring, Gray said, “Obviously, we take this very seriously.”
