---- — SALEM — The Bluff Street bridge over Hittytity Brook will be closed for reconstruction starting Monday and continuing through late August.
Bluff Street will be closed to through traffic between Scotland Avenue and the Millville Street and Zion Hill Road intersection. The town encourages motorists to seek alternative routes.

New youth services assistant at library
PLAISTOW— Cara Marsh is the new youth services assistant at Plaistow Public Library.
Marsh has worked as a school library media specialist the last four years. She has a master’s degree in educational technology with a focus in school library media.
Marsh will be at the library on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
St. Jude Open to support residents
EAST KINGSTON — The Knights of Columbus will be sponsoring the St. Jude Open on Saturday, June 1, starting at 7:30 a.m. at Apple Hill Golf Course.
This year’s open will benefit Carson Nolin and Kevin Bonyer. Carson is 22 months old and has to have infusions every four weeks to keep his antibodies up. Bonyer, 27, was injured in a dirt bike accident last year and is now a paraplegic.
The cost to play is $95, which includes 18 holes of golf, a cart, a steak barbecue and some prizes. There will also be a silent auction. It’s a scramble format with a shotgun start. Hole sponsorships are available for $100.

Walk among the wildflowers May 24
HAMPSTEAD — Kathe Cussen will lead a wildflower walk on Friday, May 24, from 4 to 5 p.m., starting from the West Road to Stage Road, and looping back on the “less traveled” Dogwood Trail.
Learn about blooming indigenous plants while on a 3-mile nature hike.

Dollars for Scholars recognize students
SALEM — The Salem Dollars for Scholars program will hold its annual awards night Thursday, May 30.
Students will be recognized for receiving scholarships during the ceremony at 7:30 p.m. in Salem High School’s Seifert Auditorium.
There will be a reception in the school cafeteria following the ceremony.
