SALEM, N.H. — The motorcyclist seriously injured late Friday in a crash with a passenger van is a Methuen firefighter.
Sean Bonneau, 43, of Salem, was in fair condition yesterday at Boston Medical Center, according to a hospital spokeswoman. Bonneau is a firefighter with the Methuen Fire Department.
No new information on the crash was available yesterday. A call to the Salem Police Department was not returned.
The crash occurred around 11:30 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Main Street and Hampstead Road.
Bonneau’s 2006 Honda motorcycle was struck by a 2000 GMC passenger van driven by Peter Muiruri, 38, of Haverhill.
Muiruri was traveling east on Main Street when he turned left onto Hampstead Road, into the path of Bonneau’s motorcycle. Bonneau collided with the right front corner of the van and suffered serious facial and body injuries, according to police.
Bonneau was first taken to Lawrence General Hospital before being flown by medical helicopter to Boston Medical Center.
Over the weekend, police said speed appears to have been a factor in the crash, but it was unclear whether drugs or alcohol were involved.
