Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign launched

The Eagle-Tribune is organizing a Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign for the month of October, and we want you to be a part of it.

We are looking for Merrimack Valley residents who have battled or are battling breast cancer, who have been otherwise touched by this disease, and who would like to share their stories.

Your stories will be used in our special news coverage next month, both in print and online at eagletribune.com to help educate the community about all aspects of a breast cancer diagnosis, including detection, treatment, survival and support.

If you are interested in sharing your story, or would like more information, contact Cheryl Lecesse at clecesse@salemnews.com or 978-338-2664.

NORTH ANDOVER — St. Gregory Armenian Apostolic Church of the Merrimack Valley will have its annual parish picnic this Sunday, from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m., on the church grounds at Water and Main streets.

A performance by the Siroun Dance Ensemble will highlight the list of festivities. Also featured will be an Armenian band composed of Joe Kouyoumjian on oud, John Arzigian on accordion and vocals, Jason Naroian on dumbag and vocals and Leon Janikian on clarinet.

The Siroun dancers will be dressed in traditional Armenian costumes and hail from central Massachusetts, performing to various folk tunes.

The menu will include shish, losh and chicken kebab dinners, rice pilaf, salad, vegetarian entrees and Armenian pastries. There will be games and activities for the entire family.

The picnic will also present an opportunity to introduce the church’s new pastor, Father Stephan Baljian.
