Teen arrested for alleged joy ride

---- — LAWRENCE — Police captured a 15-year-old boy who allegedly took a city pickup for a joy ride Friday morning.

The teen stole the vehicle when it was parked near Campagnone Common near Lawrence City Hall at 10:15 a.m., according to a report by Detective Thomas Cuddy.

The were several “joy riding” sightings around the city Friday morning and afternoon, Cuddy said.

Then, at 1:30 p.m., Officer Harold Rogers, who was working a paid detail, spotted the truck at Tremont and West streets. Cuddy and Sgt. Jose Martinez stopped the truck at Tremont and Broadway.

The teen, who lives in the 300 block at Haverhill Street, was arrested and charged with driving without a license, larceny of a motor vehicle and receiving a stolen motor vehicle.

The pickup was not damaged, Cuddy said.

:Arrest: Jose DeJesus, 29, of 82 Marble Ave., Lawrence, operating a motor vehicle with a license suspended for OUI, River Road, 4:26 p.m.

Illegal dumping: Riverina Road, 8:42 a.m.
