Copper pipe stolen from property undergoing renovation

LAWRENCE — Thieves stole several feet of copper pipe from the basement of a house on Willow Street, and left water running in the basement that damaged six new boilers and five gas hot water heaters, police said.

Property owner Osnel Falaise told Officer Timothy Dube he and his wife were at the property Tuesday until 11 p.m., and the house was secured when they left.

When he returned to the property at 5 p.m. Wednesday, he heard water running in the basement and discovered the stolen pipe and water damage.

He was able to shut off the water and the pump in the basement drained the water, police said.

The damage was reported at 5:33 p.m. Wednesday, police said.

Personal stereo stolen from parked car

HAVERHILL — Thieves ransacked a parked car and stole an iPod Nano, police said.

Valerie Yankowsky told police she parked her Honda Accord near her Newcomb Street home Tuesday night, and when she returned to the car on Wednesday, discovered it had been ransacked and papers strewn about the interior.

Yankowsky told Officer Craig Lambert her blue iPod Nano valued at $145 was taken.

Police said there was no damage to the car and no suspects.

The theft as reported at 1:37 p.m. Wednesday, police said.

Arrest: Paul Misencik, 27, 33 E. Platt St., Lawrence, driving under the influence of drugs, possession of a class C drug, Klonopin, Andover and Turnpike streets, 7:27 a.m.
