DERRY — A 69-year-old woman suffered serious injuries yesterday after being struck by a car while crossing the street.
Derry Police said the woman was crossing Tsiennto Road northbound when a car traveling westbound hit her at about 5 p.m.
An EMT crew brought the woman to Parkland Medical Center. Her injuries are believed to be “severe” and “critical,” police said.
The driver of the vehicle stopped after hitting the woman, reported the accident and remained at the scene until officers arrived, according to police.
Police withheld the victim’s name, pending notification of next to kin. They would also did not release any information about the driver.
The investigation into what caused the collision continued last night. Derry Police and EMS responded to the scene. Police sent an accident reconstruction team to Tsiennto Road after the woman was taken to the hospital.
