Salem concert series starts next week
SALEM — The Field of Dreams Summer Concert Series begins Thursday, July 11, with a performance by the Good Mem’ries Big Band.
Good Mem’ries will play music from the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s. The free concerts are every Thursday — weather permitting — at 6:30 p.m. at Field of Dreams park, 48 Geremonty Drive. The final concert is Aug. 29.
Money raised through 50-50 raffles at each concert will go toward the park’s maintenance.
These groups will also perform: George Williams Band, July 18; 4EverFab, July 25; Brandy, Aug. 1; The Transistors, Aug. 8; ThreePlay Acoustic Trio, Aug. 15; Chris White Band, Aug. 22; and The Wayback Machine, Aug. 29.

Cooking classes offered for adults
LAWRENCE — Want to learn how to prepare healthy food, nutritional snacks and how to have a balanced diet?
Groundwork Lawrence is offering “Cooking Matters for Adults” July 11, 18 and 25 and Aug. 1, 8 and 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. at 60 Island St., Suite 3.
Participants will receive free groceries, prepare and enjoy food as a class and tour local grocery stores.
