LAWRENCE — This fall, Lawrence Flag Football League will be running an NFL FLAG League in Lawrence. The main site of the games will be the Mount Vernon Field in Lawrence.
This is a non-contact version of football where young players can develop their passing, catching and defending skills. The games will be played using the Official NFL FLAG Football rules. Each player who is placed on a team will receive a reversible jersey with NFL team colors and logos and a flag belt.
The League is for both boys and girls.
Currently, the Lawrence Flag Football League is accepting applications for its fall leagues for children who are currently school age from Kindergarten through 8th grade (meaning just completing the 8th grade).
Games will be played on Saturdays between 3-7 p.m. in September. The tentative start date for games is Saturday, Sept. 7.
There will be eight regular season games plus play-off games.

Due to limitations, the number of participants in the league will be capped.
Registration Fee: $89 through Aug. 31. After Sept. 1, registration will be $99 per child until the capacity is reached.

City celebrates National Night Out with block parties
LAWRENCE — Neighborhood groups throughout the city will celebrate National Night Out tomorrow, from 8 to 5 p.m., with community block parties at 10 locations.
A 15-piece public safety motorcade will leave City Hall at 5 p.m. to visit each site.
