MERRIMACK VALLEY IN A MINUTE

LAWRENCE — Lawrence High School hosts a presentation on college admissions by the Massachusetts Educational Financing Authority on Tuesday, March 30, at 6 p.m.

Parents and students are encouraged to attend the free seminar, which will cover high school curriculum and testing, offer concrete strategies for the college search and application process, and provide an overview of financial aide essentials.

Families will receive a booklet, which will serve as a year-round resource. Time will be allowed for questions and answers.

Lawrence Rotary Club celebrates 90th anniversary

LAWRENCE The Lawrence Rotary Club will mark its 90th anniversary March 26, exactly 90 years from the day it started, with a celebration at Salvatore's, 354 Merrimack St.

The event will run from 6 to 9:30 p.m.

The club is looking for all past members to attend, in addition to those who have shared in the club's fellowship over the years.

Need money for a community service project?

LAWRENCE — The Lawrence Rotary Club is accepting proposals for the 2010 Community Service Awards until March 31.

Non-profit groups in Lawrence are invited to apply for cash awards, ranging from $1,000 to $2,500.

Groups must submit in writing an explanation of how they demonstrate a strong motivation to serve, one or more, programs for city youth, provides care and support to families with children, or encourages children's involvement with the arts. Groups must explain a specific event that will benefit from funding, how it will serve a need in the community and when the event will take place.

The award is not meant for annual budget purposes.

The club will present the awards at the Community Service Luncheon on May 20 at noon at the Greater Lawrence Technical School, 57 River Road, Andover.

Last chance to show off talents

SALEM, N.H. — Have you got talent? Well, you've one last chance to prove it.

The final audition for the "Merrimack Valley Has Talent Show," organized the Andover and North Andover Rotary Clubs, will be March 28, at 1 p.m., at The Mall at Rockingham Park, at the atrium on the second floor.

Entry fee is $20, and tryouts must be high school-aged or older. Those younger than 18 must be with by parent or guardian. Physical or dangerous acts, and acts involving animals are not allowed.

Merrimack Valley Has Talent Show, takes place April 25 at The Claddagh, 399 Canal St., Lawrence, where contestants will vy for cash prizes, from 1 to 3 p.m.

Tickets are $15. Proceeds go to charity.

Fashion show is kids' road to college

ANDOVER — "Keeping the Ship Moving," a fundraising dinner for the Corinne A. (Morris) Johnson Scholarship Fund, will take place Friday, March 26, at the Andover Country Club, 60 Canterbury St.

The evening begins at 6 p.m. with hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar, followed by dinner and a live auction at 7 p.m. At 9:30 p.m., there will be a fashion show and dancing.

The scholarship fund was established in 2008 to help local college-bound students who have lost a parent, guardian or sibling.
