The event will begin at 5 p.m. with a visit from Santa Claus. Members of the Methuen High School Choral Group will also be providing songs and entertainment. Hot cocoa and cookies are being generously provided by Century 21 McLennan & Co.

This year, Mayor Zanni has invited the local children of deployed soldiers to join him on stage for the lighting of the tree at 6 p.m.

“This holiday season there are a lot of Methuen families making sacrifices in the name of service to our country,” Mayor Zanni said. “I’d love for the children of these heroes to join me during this special holiday tradition.”

The annual Tree Lighting is free and open to Methuen residents. For more information, please contact Phil DeCologero at 978-983-8506 or at pdecologero@ci.methuen.ma.us.
