The Methuen firefighters union recently endorsed Mayor William Manzi's bid for a third term.
"We feel that your leadership through these tough economic times and deep state budget cuts has been a balance between the economic concerns of the citizens of our great city, and the safety concerns of our membership," union secretary William Barry said in a press release issued by Manzi's campaign. "It is our members' hope that with your re-election we can continue to work with you and your administration to ensure that proper personnel levels be maintained to ensure the safety of our residents and our vital business community."
Camp Manzi
Speaking of Manzi, he now has a base from which to run his battle against his challenger in the Nov. 3 election, Al DiNuccio.
Manzi for Mayor Headquarters is located at 46 Hampshire St., the old home of A Vintage Rose.
Web savvy
DiNuccio, meanwhile, recently announced that he has a campaign Web site up and running.
"The Committee to Elect Al DiNuccio announces the grand opening of their campaign Web site, www.dinuccioformayor.com," read a press release from DiNuccio. "The Web site allows visitors to review Al's background, see some of the citizens who have endorsed Al, and informs voters how they can contact Al."
The answer man
City Councilor Philip Lahey Jr., who is running for re-election, has some advice for people watching debates this political season.
"Be careful of the non-answer answer," he said during his introduction at Methuen Community Television's candidate forum last week. "If you listen to an answer and you all of a sudden have this puzzled look on your face, that's a non-answer answer."
Ask away
The public can offer questions to be asked during Methuen Community Television's Election 2009 Mayoral Candidate Forum on Wednesday.
If you have questions for Manzi or DiNuccio, e-mail them to info@methuentv.org. All questions must be received by Oct. 13, Executive Director Karen Hayden said.
The one-hour show will air live at 7 p.m. on Oct. 14 on Comcast channel 22 and Verizon channel 33.
MCTV is broadcasting a live forum with the candidates for City Councilor at-large on Oct. 15 at 7 p.m.
