METHUEN — City Council Chairwoman Deborah Quinn apologized to the public for submitting her campaign finance report four days late on Friday.
"I apologize to the people of Methuen. It should have been in on time," Quinn told The Eagle-Tribune.
Campaign finance reports were due by the close of business last Monday.
Quinn said the late submission was an "oversight" that she took full responsibility for.
"I was so busy doing the work of the city and re-election, it was just an oversight," she said.
Quinn said she raised $316.82 between Aug. 29 and Oct. 16, the latest fundraising period for candidates in Tuesday's election.
"There was next to no activity in the account, and I just put it in the back of my mind and I apologize. The people of Methuen deserve to know how much is in everyone's account," she said.
Dems dig Manzi
The Methuen Democratic City Committee voted unanimously to endorse Mayor William Manzi for re-election to a third term.
The committee said in a press release that its choice was between an "individual with a long-standing record of performance in the furtherance of the values of the Democratic Party, versus a member of the Republican Party with no legislative or administrative experience in municipal government and no higher education degree."
The Democrat they referred to is Manzi, and the Republican is Manzi's challenger, Al DiNuccio.
The committee said its decision was based on Manzi's "superior professional education, solid professional experience and his ability to manage the finances of our community in a responsible and compassionate manner."
Manzi also picked up an endorsement from Lt. Gov. Tim Murray yesterday.
