METHUEN — All three Methuen Pop Warner cheerleading teams won the Eastern Massachusetts Cheerleading Competition on Halloween at the Tsongas Arena in Lowell, and now they're gearing up for a regional competition at the DCU Center in Worcester tomorrow.
The cheerleaders, ages 9 to 14, hope to qualify for the national competition Dec. 7 to 11 at the Walt Disney Wide World of Sports in Orlando by successfully advancing from the regionals, said Lisa Francis, head coach of one of the teams.
"These Methuen girls will do all they can to bring a national title home to the Merrimack Valley, but they need the community's help to raise the funds to help get them there," Francis said.
The champs have been out collecting donations, but they still need money. Anybody who wants to donate can send money to: Methuen Pop Warner, PO Box 547, Methuen, MA 01844, Attn. Colleen Carroll, treasurer.
