LAWRENCE — A black Lincoln LS pulled up in front of a South Union Street barbershop Wednesday night and one of the occupants of the car unleashed a fusillade of 9 mm rounds into the front of the shop, police said.
There were no injuries, but four rounds struck Camilo's Barber Shop, 258 S. Union St., about 7:07 p.m., police said.
Three spent 9 mm shell casings were found at the scene, and one of the projectiles was recovered from a wall inside the shop.
One of the rounds went through the glass front door of the shop, police said.
Witnesses told police there were four people in the car, which had tinted windows and chrome wheels, and the person who fired the gun was sitting on the passenger side of the car, which then fled traveling east on Andover Street from South Union Street.
Witnesses also told police a silver Acura was parked on the north side of Andover Street and a man got out of the Acura and crossed the street and walked into the barbershop.
When the man left the shop about a minute later, the black Lincoln pulled up and the shots were fired.
The witnesses told police it appeared to them the shots were intended for the man who had left the shop.
One of the barbers said the man who came in and then left was probably looking for his regular barber, who was not on duty.
The man was described as in his early 20s, about 5 feet 9 inches tall, with a thin build and medium complexion, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.
The investigation continues, police said.
