BRENTWOOD — A jury has found Jesse Brooks, 32, guilty of conspiracy to commit murder in the death of Derry mover Jack Reid in 2005.
Brooks's father, multimillionaire John "Jay" Brooks, was convicted of capital murder earlier this year. He is serving a life sentence.
Jesse Brooks, who will be sentenced in February, faces 15 to 30 years in state prison for his conviction.
His trial lasted three weeks and the case went to the jury Wednesday afternoon. The jury just returned this morning with its guilty verdict.
The younger Brooks was accused of recruiting people to help carry out Reid's murder. He was bludgeoned to death with a sledgehammer in a Deerfield barn.
Jesse Brooks is the fifth and final suspect in the case. Robin Knight of North Hampton was convicted of murder. Joseph Vrooman of Whitville, Tenn., and Michael Benton, Jesse Brooks's childhood friend, struck plea deals and testified against Knight and both Brookses.
