LAWRENCE — Today's recounts at City Hall failed to change the results of two close races earlier this month for seats on the City Council.
In the election for the District A Prospect Hill seat, Sandy Almonte topped Joseph Armano, 858-847. Almonte picked up five additional votes, while Armano picked up four.
In the race for the District B North Common Neighborhood seat, incumbent councilor Grisel Silva lost three votes, but still prevailed over challenger Ruth Rojas, 930-912. The recount didn't change the vote total for Rojas.
The new council takes office on Jan. 4.
