LAWRENCE — Thieves managed to get three tires and rims off a parked car, but left the fourth wheel and rim behind, police said.
Officer Harold Rogers was sent to 8 Diamond St. about 5:22 a.m. Monday where he met Jose Rosario and Yenny Baez-Carrion, owner of the 2000 Audi A4.
Rosario told Rogers they parked the car outside the building Sunday night and actually looked out the window about 11:30 p.m., and the car was fine.
Rosario told Rogers when he went out the car about 5:15 a.m. he found it sitting on its brake discs except for the driver's side rear wheel, which was still on the car.
There were some tools and jacks near the car, police said.
Rosario told Rogers he did not hear the alarm go off but thought the thieves got spooked somehow and left without taking the fourth wheel.
The tires were Dunlop Direza models and the rims were stock special racing Audi rims, police said.
