Thieves steal five televisions from home

LAWRENCE — An Irene Street family that went to the airport to pick up some relatives returned home to find their house had been burglarized and five televisions stolen, police said.

Tony Santos, 42 Irene St., told Officer Marco Ayala he and his family left for Logan Airport at 6 p.m. and came back home at 10:30 p.m.

When they returned, Santos told police he noticed a kitchen window had been forced open, the rear door leading to the kitchen was unlocked, and several areas had been ransacked.

Among the property stolen was a 42-inch flat-screen television, a 19-inch DVD/flat-screen television, a second 19-inch flat-screen television, a Sony Playstation 3 video game console, and five games, three Sony Playstation controllers, two under-cabinet televisions, and an assortment of new childrens toys.

Police said the thieves also attempted to take a 50-inch wall-mounted television, but left it behind.
