H1N1, seasonal flu shots for Andover coming
ANDOVER — The town will hold separate clinics for both seasonal flu and H1N1 vaccines at the Andover Senior Center next week.
Both clinics are scheduled for Friday, Dec. 18. The Senior Center is on Whittier Court behind Town Hall.
The seasonal flu shot will be given to adults age 18 and older, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
The H1N1 clinic will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. Health care and EMS personnel, household members and care-givers of children under six months of age, and children between the ages of 2 and 24 will be given priority to receive the H1N1 vaccine, which will only be available in nasal mist form.
All who receive the H1N1 vaccine must be between the ages of 2 and 49, healthy and with no risk of asthma or other high risk conditions.
Residents attending the H1N1 clinic are asked to bring a photo copy of their insurance card for the Health Division records. Several insurance companies in Massachusetts are now reimbursing communities for the costs associated with the administration of the vaccine, and the town will seek the funding.
Paperwork for the clinics may be downloaded in advance from the town website at http://andoverma.gov/health/.

Donation drive benefits Lazarus House
NORTH ANDOVER — Now through Dec. 15, local gift retailer Sense of Wonder will collect donations of new toiletries, slippers and ladies' pajamas to benefit Lazarus House Ministries in Lawrence.
Sense of Wonder employees will festively wrap the gifts and deliver them to Lazarus House in time for the holidays.
"We wanted to give back to the community that supports us; that's what local business is all about," said Jean Smith, owner of Sense of Wonder.
"When we began our relationship with Lazarus House last holiday season, we had no idea how much of an impact we could make with this donation drive ... People were dropping off bags of pajamas and cases of toiletries," she said. " In our own small way, we helped brighten the holidays for a large number of local women and their families."
A Holiday Open House will be Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the store located at the Eaglewood Shops, 99 Turnpike St. (Route 114).
The open house will feature light refreshments, store giveaways, raffle gift baskets and unadvertised store specials. For more information, contact Smith at 978-686-6500 or www.senseofwondergifts.com.
