NORTH ANDOVER — North Andover High School will host an Oxfam Hunger Banquet Monday, Feb. 3 from 6-7:30 p.m. in the high school cafeteria.
The cost is $10 for everyone.
The event is an “interactive simulation” of how different peoples around the world eat. At the event, where you sit and the meal you eat are determined by the luck of the draw. The purpose is to help people gain a better understanding of hunger issues and poverty in the world. All proceeds go to Oxfam America.
The banquet is sponsored by The National Honor Society, Interact Club, NAHS Parent Advisory Council, North Andover Merchants Association and various North Andover businesses.
Blood drive Friday in Methuen
METHUEN — There will be a Methuen Community Blood Drive on Friday from 1-6 p.m. at HMR Properties Properties-Mill Falls Apartments Community Room, 51 Osgood Street. Spanish speaking entrepreneurs to pitch ideas
LAWRENCE — The Merrimack Valley Sandbox in collaboration with Entravision , Eastern Bank and the city of Lawrence Senior Center will be holding the 2nd Sandbox Concurso Pitch Contest Saturday to help early-stage Spanish speaking entrepreneurs in New England succeed at their ventures.
The event will be held from 3-6 p.m. at the Lawrence Senior Center, 155 Haverhill St.
During the contest, seven top finalists will pitch their idea for thousands of dollars in cash prizes. Finalist ideas include a children’s toy to help with weight management, a healthy Peruvian food delivery service, and personalized handmade precious dolls made by non-traditional workers.
The contest will feature a panel of special guest judges including Lawrence Mayor Daniel Rivera, Julia Silverio, President/CEO of Silverio Insurance Agency, Rafael Guzman, President/CEO of RM Technologies . Martha Velez, Executive Director of the Lawrence Council on Aging and Pedro Sabino, CEO of PSR Multimedia.
